As always every April is the start of my workshop series, since 2007/November 17 Workshops with over 200 attendees from all over the world. Workshops in the Caribbean/Turks & Caicos, Europe, Netherlands/Amsterdam, Hungary/Budapest. With here in Calgary 2-3 times a year. More to come in New York with my good friend Edward Ross....and some very cool locations for next year (top secret) all I can say that it will be in the most romantic city in the world! I am so passionate about teaching the more I do it the more I want to go deeper and deeper. Most people dont realize what truly lies behind a great wedding or portrait photographer. They think its all technical. Guess what! It has nothing to do with your camera... I can guarantee that I can shoot a whole wedding with my IPhone (given its limitations) its all in the creative energy one is given. A true and amazing photographer has one thing in common with other great photographers. A gift of seeing a gift of understanding a gift of communication and lots more! Keep in mind...just because you have a camera and a few lenses, does not make you a photographer.
People who attend my workshops will realize this after the 3rd day and will have a life changing experience!

Here is just a few raves & testimonials!

"I took Andras Schram's three day wedding workshop and was blown away. There was a wide variety of skill level in attendance from amateur all the way up to professional photographers and he was able to convey his experience and technical wizardry to everyone in a way that felt comfortable and was easy to understand. Andras is a gifted photographer as well as a gifted teacher. He took us from properly understanding our gear and what it can do (and how to get the most out of it) to shooting in a studio setting, shooting on location right through to post-processing. He even shared his workflow secrets and methodology with us.  It was a memorable experience and I left a more confident photographer. I would recommend his wedding workshop to any photographer - novice and pro alike."

Just wanted to say thank you very much! You are truly one of a kind Andras and sharing your creativity and passion in the three day work shop was very exciting. There are very few professional photographers that are willing to share and I have learned this from taken several photography classes in the past year and not one class can compare to your work shop. I will continue to recommend you.

Wedding Photography: A Weekend of Inspiration With Andras Schram
By Evelyn Hein

I attended Andras Schram's Wedding Photography Workshop that took place in Calgary on November 29th and 30th, 2008. Andras is an Award Winning Photographer who specializes in Wedding Photography. The business of wedding photography is very competitive and Andras had proven himself to be one of the top North American Wedding photographers. With his unique style, Andras captures what life has to offer with a push of a button.  Once I spent a few minutes listening to Andras share stories about his inspiration, his values in photography and his adventures it was clear that Andras knew how to work a crowd.

From the workshop, I learned that one of the most important tools of wedding photography is yourself. As a wedding photographer you have to be an organizer, a photographer and at times a psychologist. You have to understand what people desire by being an effective listener, and you have to follow through, and exceed expectations. Andras is a professional through and through and always strives to develop a relationship with his clients and students.

The students that attended the workshop were generally advanced amateurs, who had passion for photography. The workshop was fun and exciting. Each topic we went over was useful and meaningful, and Andras always had a story to accompany his work. He simplified and shared tips and tricks on each topic, that increased confidence in students. We went over marketing and promotion, outdoor and indoor shooting, post production actions, filters and layers, albums and album design, digital workflow and websites. I was impressed that Andras was open to share his secrets to a good business, and was willing to share the mistakes he has made on his journey.

I recommend this workshop to beginners to digital wedding photography as well as seasoned wedding photographers looking to learn some new to bring to there clients.   This workshop will give you the tools to bring your wedding photography to the next step, bringing clients more than they expect in a modern, sophisticated way.

Evelyn Hein / The Camera Store

"Andras, thank you!! I loved the workshop. I love making connections and learning more and more about photography. I would like to add for the record that I think you are very sensitive and wise, yet you teach and photograph with a bold creativity and great passion. To me this is crystal clear in both your images and your teaching. You are very generous with your knowledge and experience, humbly sharing all you have learned (well, maybe not ALL). Thank you for including not just the technical and creative stuff but also the business side of things. I greatly appreciate all I have learned from you."

I am going to start with this saying and I truly love this, has a tremendous meaning.
" We do not inherit the world from our parents but rather borrow it from our children! " I have to say we are doing a really bad job with it. Take for instance the underwater world, with so much to show and offer incredibly magical. To go underwater and spend time in this truly magical place is out of this world, once you have tried it you will be hooked for life. I am! There is no comparison. Unfortunately the devastation is more obvious underwater than anywhere else. Many reefs are dying and some already extinct. Global warming is part of it and we humans are responsible for this. Just +2 degrees changes the ecosystem so much that corals will die. I have seen this in many parts of the world. There are many other factors but it is all our fault. So what we borrow from our children, we will not be able to give it back. Can I say that I was fortunate to see it in my time? What about them? In just 30 years all of the coral reefs can disappear and with it trillions of beautiful creatures. It is a shame and I will try to do my part as much and however I can to help and preserve it for the next generation. I just hope that its not to late!

These photos are from Cuba in the Varadero region, the weather was a bit stormy and visibility was not he best like last year when I was there. This year I have taken my pro underwater gear with me Canon 5D Mark II camera with a 15mm 2.8 Fisheye lens in an Ikelite underwater housing, no external flash or video light. Some of the images where adjusted in Photoshop to bring a bit of color back into the images. It is actually amazing how much information there is and PS can help bring it back. This was my test run with the camera, the first dive with the Russian War ship, bad lighting but the camera and lens helped a lot, second dive, reef dive with lots of currents. Please enjoy these photos

Great images. I fell in love with underwater photography a few years ago. Haven't upgraded the housing to my Mark II, but I have been getting amazing results with my canon Point and shoots. There is a function on these little suckers that allows me to do an "evaluative white-balance" with a push of a button. Knocks all the blue out of the image and renders the scene with vibrant colors. Check some of my images out here http://www.hodginsphotography.com/gallery/underwater/ you have amazing work my friend, it was great meeting you in Calgaray. Cheers

Every year I am fortunate to visit Las Vegas for the WPPI convention, I say fortunate because I always think that with me gone for 5 days my wife will have to double up and do everything herself, kids to school and daycare and back, breakfast, lunch and dinner, the chores and all it takes to run a family, so thank you Anita! This means a lot to me, networking, meeting new people, new products....and as always a shoot around Las Vegas.

This year was no different, ONLY for the weather, I always hope that during the 5 days I am there it is going to be HOT, really really HOT. Well this time it was actually COLD to the point where, during our photo shoot, it started SNOWING..I mean! Seriously!? I leave Calgary and I go to the desert and it snows! Anyway, at least I am used to it. The photos that you see here were taken in 2 days. On the first with Patricia in the red dress, it was snowing, than raining than snowing again, you can see the white snow flakes. The 2nd day with Megan & Kelly, it was not snowing on this day but, we had all sorts of different lighting every 5 minutes, from cloudy to sunny than super dark than cold and windy and clouds, some sun and for the last we finished in a hail storm with a hint of sand blowing like crazy! So thank you again to the wonderful models, for keeping up with this bad weather. At the end the photos turned out great. Thinking back I actually loved the weather and the different lighting. Most of the photos are the originals, with just a hint of sharpness added in PS, some I played with the crazy colors and textures.
A big Big Thank You to Jackie from ETHOS BRIDAL here in Calgary for lending the beautiful wedding dresses, Veil and hair piece.
A huge thanks to Amelia from www.amelia-c.com for the fantastic makeup and hair for Meghan & Kelly.
The models THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!  PATRICIA!  MEGAN & KELLY!

Enjoy the photos.

You can now pay & register for upcoming workshops or seminars through my online STORE! While at WPPI in Las Vegas, I have finally found the option to make it easier for everyone to register and pay for upcoming workshops. RedCart makes this happen. Although a one time investment (not cheap) but gives me full control over all my products, without having to go through a 3rd party for sale or printing. This makes it more personal and easier for everyone.
So if you are interested in signing up for the next workshop just click the link STORE and you will be redirected. Just click on the Workshop category and choose the date you are looking for! I do encourage you to double check with me, as the workshops fill up fast!
Ultimately the NEW Website by LiveBooks will also have the store information.

Cheers
